Fall 2014 Mosquito Lagoon to Daytona Beach fishing report

The Fall is arriving and the lagoon water is cooling off and the fishing is getting hot . Over the next few weeks expect the top water action and jerk baits to be the top producers on the artificial side and finger mullet on the live bait side . Look for pods of finger mullet on top and work the outside edges with top water ( Rapala skitter walks sw8 ) are my choice or jerk baits ( Z-Man) . If no bites switch to and 1/8oz jig with a paddle tail and go deeper . As the weather gets cooler the reds will start tailing in the flats if the water stays high the tails may not be breaking the surface so slow down put the sun at your back and watch for subsurface tails .We still have some tarpon around both inshore and on the beach they should be hanging around for another couple of weeks and the snook are making a great comeback . The Fall is a great time to visit the Mosquito Lagoon .
