2015 March Mosquito Lagoon Daytona and New Smyrna fishing report
We are starting March off with air temps in the 80’s while the rest of the country is in the grips of winter weather . The sight casting is on fire weather to single red fish up in the creeks or schools the clear water of the flats they are easier to spot in the super clean water . With the warmer March temps we will have the Reds and Trout becoming more aggresssive
on faster moving baits such as top water like the Rapala Skitter walk or swim baits like the Z-man paddle tails and the Aqua Dream Spoons early morning and on the cloudy days when sight casting isn’t possible . On the sunny days the best baits for sight casting is either a live shrimp on a 3/0 circle hook either weightless or with a small split shot pitched in front of the fish or a 3 inch gulp shrimp rigged same way . For those looking to relax and not chase fish a finger mullet with the tail trimmed on a 4/0 hook can produce good catches of trout and reds on the deeper grassy flats of the mosquito lagoon . If you are looking to book a trip March can be an awesome month with warmer temps and exciting fishing from Daytona to New Smyrna beach .
