Mosquito Lagoon winter 2017

Happy New Year fishing report 2017

The temps have dropped enough over the last few weeks to really clean the water in the Mosquito Lagoon to do some great sight casting. The visibility is good up to around 3 ft of water and should continue to get even better if this cooling trend remains in effect. The Red fish have started to school as well as the trout and on calm days are easy to find most days . The bait of choice for me has been live shrimp or a good shrimp imitation such as the Z-man Ez-shrimpz or for covering more water on days when sight casting isn’t an option the Z-man paddle baits on a jig head. Fly fishing has been great with lots of shots on the sunny clear days . The best fishing has come for the next few days after a cold front so don’t let a little cold weather stop you from a great day of fishing . Hope everyone has a great year. Get out there and catch them up.
